Advised by Walter Billet on the legal side, the collaborative delivery platform between neighbors Pickme is completing seed funding in order to develop its local, sustainable and ultra-flexible delivery model throughout France.
Pickme, a French start-up specializing in last-mile collaborative delivery, announces a fundraising of €3.5 million, led by OneRagtime, followed by its historical investor Founders Future as well as FrenchFounders, Kima Ventures and strategic Business Angels.
Today, the transport of goods in urban areas is responsible for 25% of CO2 emissions in the city. However, 30% of the 800 million parcels delivered in France each year are not received during the first delivery attempt. Pickme responds to this problem by streamlining the process and the experience of receiving parcels thanks to its community of individuals (Keepers) which constitutes a unique network of local micro-hubs.
Since its launch in 2020 by Jessie Toulcanon (CEO), Samuel Rousseau (COO) and Florian Dufour-Rives (CTO), Pickme has quickly proven the relevance of its model. From the first months, the start-up obtained a deliverability rate of 99% and zero disputes or lost parcels.
Concretely, Pickme integrates easily and securely with carriers. When ordering, the consumer chooses their Keeper themselves – validated beforehand by the app – according to their location, availability and rating. He then receives a notification at each stage of the delivery. At the end, the Keeper is automatically rewarded on the application (up to €1 per package).
Finally, its increase from 41,000 to 96,000 subscribers between 2021 and 2022 has profoundly strengthened the national network of the start-up, encouraging this year the interest of big names in transport such as Colissimo and Geodis.
Pickme aims at drastically reducing the carbon footprint of the last mile. In Europe, nearly 108,000 tonnes of CO2 are emitted due to delivery failures. By guaranteeing the presence of its Keepers when delivery people pass through, Pickme can reduce the carbon emissions of carriers by up to 15%.
“The purpose of this fundraiser is to consolidate our position in every city where we are present. We recruit the best talents to continue to improve the Pickme experience and fully integrate into the daily lives of French people. Our goal today is to democratize this new way of receiving and sending parcels, which is practical, human and responsible. We want to offer the world a more sustainable way to receive their parcels to promote inclusive and environmentally friendly e-commerce growth,” said Jessie Toulcanon, CEO and co-founder of Pickme.
